First smoker fridge melted.

Joined Aug 27, 2016
Hey all. First forum post ever. Just assembled a smoker out of an old fridgemail with my bro.
And set it out on its maiden voyage..and it melted!..
I actually went in for a little nap after setting it on a good course and the whole interior wall area melted!
During assembly i took the gasket off the door and placed sheet metal down then mounted the gasket. But didn't think the inside needed it...little did I know..
super disappointed but live and learn I guses.
I really don't want to do much else to this smoker besides either tin tape the melted points and install a stop mechanism on the dimmer switch so the bricket igniter doesn't get too hot.
Or scrap the whole thing in the alley and make a new wooden hut style electric powered smoker.

Hi Cory, welcome to you.

I think you've already found out something very valuable.

No plastic in the smoker, you've either got to take it all out

along with the insulation and redo it, or and I like this one better.

Scrap it, like you said, and build a new box.

You don't want whatever kinds of gases and the rest of the stuff it will

give off in your food.

Sorry about the lousy news, but at least you haven't hurt anyone with it.

Welcome Cory!  Sorry about that fridge smoker.  Like Gearjammer said, no plastic or insulation in the smoker.  I like the idea of scrapping it also.  Glad you joined us.
