The weather cooperated yesterday and I was able to get in my first smoke.  I wanted to do something easy and inexpensive in case I messed it up, so I just did a small batch of wings.  I based them off S2K9K's thread and injected the wings with butter and Frank's hot sauce with a little bit of the store bought rub mixed in.  I added some more of the rub on the top.  They got smoked for two hours with some hickory.

Here they are after being prepared

After being placed in the smoker for an hour and ready to be flipped.  I don't know that flipping does anything, but I used that as my excuse to open the door and see what was going on.

Final product after two hours

All in all, they were very good.  A little over done, but only by about 15 mins or so.  My wife and son were upset that I only did a dozen because they wanted more.  My daughter actually ate one too and didn't complain, very picky eater.

So that's all... thanks for looking!!

Congrats on your first success - many more to come

Keep going, those look good.

Congrats on the 1st Smoke. Get the Family hooked and there is never a complaint about Dad spending all day by the smoker!...JJ

Thanks for the nice comments all!  I did another double set of wings and two whole chickens today and they came out pretty good.  Not as good as the first set of wings, but I think that is because I used mesquite today instead of hickory.  Apparently my family and I like a heavier smoke flavor.  So lesson learned for chicken!
