Hey all,
Been a bit since I've posted. This is a pulled pork I did a few days ago, first attempt at pulled pork since I used to never be a fan of it due to every time I've ever had it, it was soaked in bbq sauce. My youngest daughters' school holds monthly meetings with the parents in her class and the teachers and as president of the meetings I usually bring food for the parents and children, this was supposed to be one of the largest meetings of the year so I opted to give pulled pork a shot with a 7.5 lb butt.

After smoking it over pecan and cherry for 13 hours, it fell right apart and everyone raved about how good it was. So here are some shots of it.

All pulled and in a crockpot for the meeting.

Thanks for looking and keep smoking!

I bet you're the food man for life now!

Looks great! Pound it :emoji_right_facing_fist:

You have no idea hah. I've been cooking for these meetings for the past 2 years and usually the week before the meeting the parents are requesting something to be made. Most often it's either my smoked mac and cheese or my thai chicken wings but I like to mix it up. They all said this is another one to add to the list and a bunch have asked me to cook for summer events. I'm a chef by trade as it is and catering is something I've got experience with anyway.

Yup---That looks Excellent !!
Nice Job, Ben!!
Now you're a Hero!!
Like.

Bear

Thanks bear, I followed your step by step for this actually! Thanks for the like!

That sure does look good!!

Thanks Smoke23, first pulled pork I've tried and liked myself. Not many people in my neck of the woods that have smokers or know how to use them short of the few professionals around here that have their own stores. Everyone I know that makes it, uses a crockpot and a gallon of bbq sauce, I'd rather taste the pork and the smoke than a bunch of sauce.

Looks great!

I hear ya on the sauced stuff..rather put my own on! Course you know..you'll never get out of bbq duty now ;)

I'm never off bbq duty and that's just the way I like it. Up here nothing stops me, even when there's a temp of -10 and a windchill that drops it to -30 I'm doing something with the smoker or grill. Luckily I've got my two beautiful daughters who love to help and get dirty.

LOL---These last few years, my MES doesn't work when it's below 20° out.

Of course it might be only because there's nobody out there to plug it in. :emoji_laughing:

Haha that will do it, I keep mine on an enclosed porch and just prop the door open to keep the smoke from building up. I also have no problem going out in the kind of cold because the kids want to play in the snow.

Looks mighty fine from where I'm sitting.
Good job.
I'm with ya on the sauce thing too.
I like MEAT not sauce.
Walt

Thanks Walt! A little bit of sauce goes a long way in my opinion, people around here bathe their meat in it.

If that's your first attempt at PP then id say you knocked it out of the park man. My daughter always wants to help too...hard to beat

Thanks! I've always loved cooking and grilling since I was a little one so I've always tried to get my girls involved as well. They're my little princesses who have no issues playing in the dirt, working on vehicles, or fishing.

Way better than my first effort!

Thanks disco! Whenever I'm trying something new I usually keep a very close eye on it so if something starts going south I can catch it quick. Thankfully this one went off without a hitch.

Ha! Same here! Well sans having kids! It's 'only -10f' is some thing I say far to much now ;)

Wait till you bring them ABTs there..you'll get mobbed!

Hah yep, nothing stops me from getting something in the smoker or on the grill that's for sure. I'll have to make some for the one we are doing in June. Planning on bringing a couple racks of ribs, and I'm gonna grill up a bunch of stuff while I'm there while the kids and parents play slip n slide bowling. Of course I'm not going to miss out on that. Most of these parents aren't too big on spicy, plus I make stuff for the kids as well, but I know a few would appreciate a good ABT. I know my youngest will, she has daddy's love for spicy foods no doubt, she loves my ghost pepper sauce, though I don't think she would be ready for raw ghosts like I like them.

looks great, nice pics

Thanks Jim! First time I ever liked pulled pork too, one of the reasons I rarely go out to eat unless the kids are begging me to go somewhere, if I can make it myself where it's better and cheaper I would much rather do that.

we rarely dine out either, like you said besides the cost, making better food, we sort of live a little bit out in the sticks, so usually when we get home from work we don't want to get in the car and go anywhere.

I know exactly how that goes. Until the past couple years going anywhere to eat or even shopping involved at least a 40 minute drive. I live much closer to restaurants and what not now but my girls like the food we make together better and view eating out as a treat. Much healthier that way too.
