I’m from Plainfield , Illinois and just took possession of my dad’s old smoker. It’s a Grillpro propane model in bad shape. I’m going to start a restoration process and would love some advice.

Look forward to learning a lot from this forum.

Thanks in advance.

7/3 edit. Here are the photos I took from the current state of the smoker.
I found out it’s a Grillpro model 31845. It’s missing the electronic igniter so I’m not sure if I can replace that (internet search turned up nothing). Might have to use the old match method of lighting.

Welcome to the forum. I’m still a newbie myself, but I think you will find it very beneficial. There is plenty to learn from here. Good luck on the restoration of the old smoker. Can’t wait to see pictures of the process.

Welcome, Steve. You can find lots of advice here on the forum with a great group of contributors, many with years and years of experience. When you start your restoration process, post pictures and ask questions; you are bound to get a reply fairly quickly.

Look forward to pictures of the restoration.

Welcome to the forum!
I don't have any experience with your smoker, but I'm sure others have!
Sounds like a fun project!
Al
