2 days in a row I get the pleasure of smoking something. First attempt at bb ribs and 3rd rib smoke total.

Didn't realize that I was running low on charcoal so we have a mix of lump and kingsford. Pray I get there. Have apple wood for my smoke

Last time I used a butt rub and I thought it was too salty so this time I made my own rub with no salt at all. Hope it works.

Peeled the membranes off on 2 easy as pie and one just wouldn't give it up. Hopefully it doesn't ruin the experience.

I am new to the rib thing so not sure about meat side up or meat side down so I am trying a bit of both.

I am thinking I am going to run 3 to 4 hours untouched and than start basting. I have a suggestion for a maple syrup sauce I think I am going to try. Not really a foiling fan so we will see how this goes.

Soooo... I am confused you going with the Foil crutch or without? I agree about foiling, but it could be I am an old fart and just like stuff the way I have always done it. What type of smoker/pit you cooking on?

Hehehehe..... inquiring minds want to know......

Looking good to me. It is interesting you found your butt rub too salty for the ribs. I found that with a new rub I was using on butts and then used on ribs was too salty for the ribs, just like you.

I look forward to pictures of the finished product.
