So you're telling me it's going to take a while, right? :-) I presume that large of number is going to suck up all the heat, too ....
 
Yes,gonna take a while,they are 79% water.If you want them "baked" most all of that water has to exit.This will take a long time @ 250*.
 
Some people do what I call "The Idaho Cheat" and put them in the microwave for a while to give them a jumpstart.
 
To expedite the cook I was going to split them open and also pluck each one 4-5 times with a fork. To help with the flavor, given they are opened up a bit, I planned to mop them with a melted butter/garlic mix every hour to so .... may also crank up to 275 or so to expedite.

probably a dumb question but that's me......dumb. I hear people saying just pop them in a microwave then smoke them. Never have heard how long to microwave them. I guess par-boil is another alternative but again how long?
