Home is Glendale, AZ.
I have a 6 pound bird all spatchcocked and seasoned to go in the smoker tomorrow.

I have never done a chicken before (except some thighs)

I have Todd's pellets and dust in the following flavors:

Cherry

Maple

Oak

Alder

Pitmasters blend

What would be your first choice?

First choice for me is a apple/hickory blend. Since you don't have either I'd go with pitmasters blend or a maple cherry mix. Used both on chicken and both ate good. Good luck.

Maple, always maple.

Mild smoke that doesn't over power the chicken and also gives it a beautiful golden brown color.

That's how I got my start smoking, split chicken breasts over maple, in a Weber, when camping ... because I was too cheap and lazy to drive to town to buy charcoal.

+1 on the lighter woods for chicken.
