F. Dick Stuffer 9 Liter - Ancient Unit Gasket Replacement Help Needed.

The gaskets shown are breaking down. They are leaving little crumbles of black in my stuffer. It appears they are two gaskets about 1/4 inch wide, 1/8 thick???; very old unit that works great except for this small but critical detail.

Anyone have any ideas how to replace? The gaskets are in two pieces since the channel the gaskets sit in has a little ridge that acts as a separator, essentially cutting a gasket in half.

The gasket in this unit sort of has a waxy texture to it but crumbles.

The plate is 6 7/8" diameter. Appreciate any suggestions.

Do a search on Google for square o-rings. you should find sizes that will work for this application. Be sure  to ask about food grade materials.

If they don't have the exact size you can get one thats oversized and cut it with a razor blade to size and superglue it. I've made many o-rings this way. They will not come apart!

I'm looking for a number but can't seem to find anything but "9 Liter F. Dick" as is cast on  the drive head of the unit. Any idea on where it would be hidden?

I would measure the diameter of the groove and the diameter of the cylinder... Let's say the groove is 6-1/2" dia. and the cylinder is 7" dia....

I would remove the ridges in the ring groove with a file until smooth then insert a silicone o-ring ....  be sure the stuffer tube is smooth....

Probably the first o-ring on the list....  Measure with a micrometer type instrument to be sure of the

stuffer dimensions....   I think these o-rings are of the same material on my Grizzly stuffer....

For reference, this is how the O-Ring fits on my Grizzly stuffer....   The suggestion I made above, may be incorrect for proper O-Ring fit....

I have a couple o-rings that might fit, if the diameter is the same as the 12 & 15 liter F. Dick stuffers. I can check when I get home this evening.

Checked with retailer.......he said boy thats an old one.

Said he could send me a replacement "O" ring from a new unit and that it might fit.

Also said I could buy a new unit........I offered to trade him and he wouldn't take the deal.

Oh well.

I will probably run with Dave's idea. Unfortunately the unit does not have a model number.

Will let you know more as I move forward.

Dave has you covered here... I use mcmastercarr all the time.. If the new oring protrudes out too much and is a tight fit in the cylinder you can always take the pusher to a machine shop and have them take a few thousandths off the groove. With the oring installed on the pusher it should be about .002 larger than the cylinder

Took off seal tonight. No metal ridge. It is smooth all around. Stuff smelled like ashphalt. Glad it is gone. Who wants that in their meal?

Ordering seal and keeping fingers crossed.

So your saying there is no groove for the oring to set into. How about another pic with it cleaned up...
