I need to move my MES 30 off the deck and into the yard.  It's about a 20' run to the outlet.  What gauge cord should I use?

I use a 15' 12 gauge on my 40" MES all the time (no outlet closer to where I cook) that gives me about 20' with the MES cord...

I'd need a 50 footer to reach my garage if it rains.  Am I going to lose some power?  I really can't afford to.

Go to a Big Box Store and ghet the heaviest guage you can , the 12ga. will do, but the hevier ones will carry the voltage with less resistence...JMHO.

I grabbed a 50 ft 12 ga at Menards for $27 yesterday.  We'll see how well it works tomorrow if it rains.  I'm going to do some spare ribs with Butt Rub.

50 footer is fine. No loss of power. I want to say it got hotter faster butt there wood be no reason for that. Its just warmer out tham my previous smokes. Not sure how to add pics so no q view.

Another possibility is to install a permanent outdoor outlet on a pole, burying the electrical line with a breaker on a separate fusebox if it is a repeating thing, and not rely on an extension cord.  I did that at my house up north to plug in my circulation water block heater for my two cars; extension cords would short out with the -45 below weather.

Don't forget to add a GFP (Ground Fault) outlet.

Absolutely!  I used a GFI circuit breaker; too cold on the outlet.  (the outlet would pop and couldn't get the outlet to reset).
