Exotic Woods?

Hi all,

Just curious what sorts of unusual wood you use? We all know the traditional Oak, Cherry, Apple, Mesquite, Hickory, Pecan, etc., but I'm curious what else is out there.

For a bit of background, I live in a region where arbutus trees flourish and I've read that arbutus is a good smoking wood. Anyone have experience with arbutus?

If it is a fruit or nut bearing tree, then you are good to go. Some are better than others.

I've tried some woods that were less common like olive, orange or guava but seem to always come back to hickory, pecan, cherry and apple..... some times some peach.

Madrone is another one on the west coast that Ilike.

My son got a "cocktail smoker" and it had a LOT of different wood smoke flavors...even alder

A-Maze-N has some awesome pure pellets and a lot of flavors...
