So since our plans for today have changed due to the balmy weather we are having, I've been doing some reading on electric S&P grinders.
There are 3 basic types...
1. Battery powered. Most seem to run off of AAA batteries. This was the kind I have/had.
2. Rechargeable lithium where each grinder has to be plugged in individually with a USB-C cord. Some sets have bases to set the grinders in, but not charge them.
3. Rechargeable lithium where the grinders sit in a base and the base is plugged in with a USB-C cord. The grinders will recharge when they are placed in the base.
Most descriptions say a charge will last at least a month with normal household use. Some say up to 3 months. The AAA powered ones I was given were still going strong with the original batteries a month later.
Reviews are all over the place, but looking at a bunch of them on
Amazon, many look to be the same, just a different name and the reviews are different. Even the name brand ones such as ThermoPro look identical to others with different names. Probably all made in a couple of different factories in China.
Some other differences is capacity with most holding about 50ml-70ml of salt or pepper. 100ml-110ml on the high side. All seem to have a light.
Prices are from around $20 up to $100 for a set with most in the $35-$40 range.
I haven't locked in on one in particular, but I think I do like having a charging base so I don't have to plug each one in separately to charge. Still looking, but I've gone crossed-eyed for now...
