Electric meat thermometer question

Has anyone ever seen an electric meat thermometer that will disconnect power from your smoker when you reach your desired internal meat temp? I'm using a MES 30". Thank you

No. If it did the smoker is still hot and would continue to cook till it cooled down and then the food would fall back into the danger zone and It would not be safe.

Yes they do make such a device. It's called a PID. Look at the Aubern website. The Aubern plug in play PID is what you are looking for. Or you can build your own from the parts that they offer.

David I'm not sure what the issue would be. We pull meat at the desired IT and let it rest all the time. Sometimes for hours wrapped in foil and blankets. I'd have to assume unless the meat and was allowed to cool to the point of below 140 there would be no problem. PID controllers are used for this all the time.

Turning stuff on/off, opening garage doors and unlocking doors etc. through a Wi-Fi app on your phone is common.  I have a 12v remote that turns off/on a 1000w switch that plugs into my wall socket so I can plug anything into the switch to turn on/off remotely. A Wi-Fi version would be nice to use if using a Wi-Fi therm.  I don't know if it exists.  When your Wi-Fi therm alarm would go off while away from home you could go to the  phone app to turn off the switch that the MES is plugged into.
