Double Grate UDS ?'s

For those of you who have dual cooking grates in your UDS, how far apart are they and what is the temperature difference between them

Mine are 8 inches apart and I don't really notice a temp difference although I haven't done much tracking to see. I have a weber lid so my top grate is only 2" down. If you have a flat lid that would lower both grates and might cause the bottom grate to run hotter.

I have the flat lid and mine are 7 inches down and 6 inches apart. The lower grate is 20 or so degrees hotter. I just plan accordingly and use two probes for temp.

your bottom grate being 6" from the top one can you still fit the av rage whole chicken on both racks on its back

Mine are adjustable. I can space the racks in 1" increments.

I spatchcock my yard birds. No more whole intact birds for me so yes they fit. I can get 6 normal size birds in mine.

6 inches with a flat lid low enough for pork butts on the top rack?

my top rack is 7 inches down and yes I can get a 12 pounder in there. I don't think I have tried a bigger one but this one was that big and it fit.
