Used my new Smokin-It for the second time today. I smoked leg quarters. I obviously forgot a lot of what I used to know about chicken, because my results did not make me happy. I slapped a rub on the quarters and put two hickory blocks in the pan. The skin dried up and contracted, and it looks like even two little blocks of hickory are too much for this efficient smoker. The skin was too dark.

It was barbecue, so I ate it, but I have to get back on top of my game. I remembered that I used to inject chickens with stuff, and they were delicious and juicy.

Question: is there a reusable syringe out there that's worth buying? I had a Cajun Injector once, and it was a piece of junk. I replaced it with a bag of 60cc syringes from a veterinary supply site, and they were wonderful, but after a while, they have to be replaced. Is there something better, or should I stick with cheap disposables?

Buy a bottle of Tony C's injectable and save the injecter . I have a injecter I bought , but really like the one that comes with the Tony's , and use that one all the time .

That kind of looks like the horse needles I'm used to. Maybe it's the same thing.

I have a metal injector that I bought at Lowes. It came with two needles - one single hole and one multi-hole. I've had it for a couple of years now and it still works great. Sorry I can't remember the name of it.

It’s kind of a buy once cry once thing but the Spitjack Magnum is the Lamborghini of injectors. I’ve had one for about a year and a half and now could never use another. Amazon

Thanks for all the help.

The metal injectors I'm seeing look pretty much like my old Cajun Injector, and the plastic ones look like my big cattle hypodermics, so I decided to go ahead and order more cow needles. I guess I'm not as clueless as I thought.

Didn't see that until I placed my new orders. Looks pretty formidable.

It is amazing. Makes the whole process so easy without hand cramps if you are injecting a lot. Also has many different gauge and style needles to make injecting anything easy. You can even inject relishes and pastes.

I’ve found this on Amazon, price is right and the thing works great and durable. $15 and metal. Though I do wonder if these like a lot of products are just rebranded. So many look like the same manufacturer but different packaging/name. Not sure I’d go with a horse syringe, just the thought of horse meat and injectors does pair well lol

I think they are . I have the Meat Mavens that looks like that one . Nice injector and good quality .
It's pretty much a 2 handed operation . The plunger spins , which makes the thumb hole loop a pain sometimes .
That cheap Tony C's is small enough I can use it one handed . That way I can tip the container when the liquid gets low and pull the injector out with the other hand .

For heavy usage, I vote for the Magnum SpitJack, but I was offered a promo deal and got the full set-up.,,, I would have aid full price in a heartbeat. I love the metered amount settings. SpitJack also makes a "Squirt" which I have two of for smaller jobs. You get an extra needle, O-ring, and cleaning brush (and maybe free shipping). I broke a barrel once and emailed about replacement parts, and a a complete injector arrived in two days for no charge.

I don’t find any problems with this bad boy. When I’m injecting everything is a mess including the counter from the butter squirting lol but tithe thumb loop works great. For the price you get 3 needles that are heavy duty plus some pipe cleaners (I use hot water/soap Instead) plus extra o’rings which they last so prolly won’t need those anytime soon.
Now if I was commercial I would consider a +$100 injector, for $15 this baby works quite nicely 👍

The one I have is the Spitjack Magnum Full kit. Comes with 4 different size needles and brushes. I love the needle that has holes the entire length of it.

I have a cheap 2 needle unit. Don't remember if it came from local box store or Walmart.
1 needle is out the tip and the other is a multi-hole up the shaft. Syringe is fine, but neither needle is perfect.
I remove the multi hole to suck liquid in the syringe.
Only use to inject cure. I don't pump meat.

I have the Meat Maven unit. Appears to be the same as the beast.

Works well. It came with 3 needles, cleaning brush and replacement gaskets. The wooden box is cool too!

I have several, but end up using the Tony C’s one’s the most. The best one I have is from the Sausage Maker.
