Do you mind telling your process on the burning and what you're using for a finish?

Of course I don't mind. I'm using mesh stencils and scorch paint. Which is food safe. For charcuterie board. I use salad bowl finish for its high sheen. For cutting boards. I use butcher block treatment. The stencils are self adhesive. Put them down firmly. And a very thin layer of the paste. Remove the stencil. And use a heat gun to burn the paste. Then wipe down with wet rags to remove the ash. And finish.

Steve H - have you done any testing with this? How deep is the burn? Would it survive a run through the drum sander or planer after being used?

I boggled a burn. And had to redo it. I used my planner set at 1/16"and it removed the image completely. Reapplying it isn't a problem. The stencils are reuseable.

Yeah, that's what I was curious about. If someone uses their board and then sands it down a year or two later, all that artwork is going to disappear. Just something to keep in mind .

Yup. I only do one burn. You can do a couple to get the image deeper. Haven't tried that yet.

That is interesting for sure. I would hate to cover up your boards with any paint though. The craftsmanship is too nice to hide.
