Salt, pepper olive oil.

Looking good so far.

Birds look great Bill. I’m used to them being 2.50-3 bucks a piece. When they went 5-6 bucks I stopped buying. Really like them though and cooked a ton of them over the years.

You cooked those excellent.

Thank you! I can get them at the commissary for a decent price. Always keep three or 4 in the freezer.

We love Cornish game hens. They are pricey though. Yours came out great. I like the simple approach. Salt, pepper, oil. The grill produces a nice crisp skin. Job well done. :emoji_thumbsup:

THAT'S A FINE LOOKIN LITTLE BIRD, NICE WORK! I LIKE TO SPIN GAME HENS OVER THE KETTLE, NO TOP. ONE SEEMS TO MAKE A PERFECT MEAL WITH A SIDE OR TWO. RAY
Thank you! I divide the kettle in half with bricks. Fill one side with coals, placed chickens on the "cold" side, vent over chickens. About 20 minutes, then turned. They were very good, crispy skin.

I prefer these over the ones I've done in a dutch oven using coals.

My dad loved those! He used to get them two in a pack. And he'd grill them. He had a talent on the grill that I've yet to match. Yours look the same!

Looks good from here.
Growing up we used to get them from time to time.
My mom's sister gave her a stuffing recipe for hens.
A box of Uncle Ben's Long Grain & Wild Rice prepared per instructions.
On the side brown a pound of good sage forward pork sausage.
Add to the rice with a bit of the grease
Stuff hot in the hen cavity and put to the cook. The small size of a hen and the speed of cooking doesn't put the stuffing in the danger zone.

That was the last time I made them. Boy Scout Camporee and an adult leader got a couple of them as prizes from a shoot at the gun club. He mentioned they would go for a Boy Scout event and all the others donated for the cause. I don't remember how many I got in the big dutch.
I think it was 4 boxes of Uncle Ben's and 4# sausage to stuff them.
The adults and the SPLs talked about that meal for years.

They use to be a well kept secret, prices were decent. Then "bam" skyrocketed.

Yep. We love them, but I haven't bought them in many years because of the price...

Top notch cook Bill… man it’s been a while since we’ve had some game hens. Going to have to change that. Thanks for the thread and reminder.
