As far as smoking with cobs - I tried it once more this summer and didn't really like the smell. Almost a sickenly sweet smell like burnt sugar. I don't care for anything really sweet so that may be the reason.
I have a Cobb grill that I use when my wife and I are traveling in our motor-home. I purchased the grill about 4 yrs ago. The advertisement stated that it had been originally used in Australia and fueled with corn cobs, hence the name. No additional info available.
