Ever hear this old saying about March weather: “In Like A Lion, Out Like A Lamb”? Well, in the Inter-Mountain west the opposite is about to happen this year. The meteorologists are trying to out do each other with headlines like: "Snow storm of Historic Proportions" and "Mother Of All Storms".... and to be honest 30" of snowfall with winds of 30 to 50 MPH is nothing to laugh about. Luckily, I'm on the northwestern fringe if the latest forecast holds.

This weekend I planned on smoking 3 pastramis and a few other things. I'm completely dug out from an earlier storm this week and my street has been plowed, so we'll see what happens....

It can go the other way ,too. In like a lamb, out like a lion. Around here March is unpredictable.
Good luck and I'm hoping this is another instance of the media blowing things out of proportion.

If you want, feel free to be selfish and hog all the snow! Depending on which forecast we go with either talking 1 to 3 inches or 5 to 9 inches... guess I won't go pick up rocks just quite yet! Was just thinking the grass just starting to green up looks kinda nice.

We've had such a mild winter so far, the media has been waiting for a good story. One guy even predicted that the computer forecasts were way off because of the humidity, he predicts 5' (feet) in the mountains outside of Laramie. What the media could have covered better was the high winds this fall and winter. Semi trucks were getting blown over on I-80, and wind speeds of 70 to 100 MPH were recorded.

WOW! what's the wind chills ya'll looking at? I could wait till the summer thaw to get rid of the snow, but, that "chill." Prayers that your power/utilities don't fail. 🍻
Maybe down to 10°. The lowest actual temp is something like 27°. We were in that polar vortex earlier, so there were 6 or 7 days that were -10° and lower actual. But luckily the winds were light.

Good luck.
Keep the tiller pointed SE. Your weather can easily turn and hit my area.
We dodged a blitz on Wednesday. Storm dropped trace - 10" to the south and east of me.

That sucks, unless ya like that crap. Crossing my fingers here that we dont get hit with a big storm , March is usually when we get them. It's like a kick you know where. Stay safe.

If it snows here at this time of the year the world is ending lol
I've seen flurries here in April and once in May in northern Illinois. "Climate Change" be darned, there has always been weird weather.
If you see some snow flakes in TN the world won't end. You'll just deal with it :-)

Weird Weather? NAH, Just more people living it. Feb 2017 we dealt with an ice storm that impacted the Midlands of SC and Georgia areas, no power for 2-3 week, 2-3" of ice, states closed, etc. You know you have "arrived" when Jim Cantore sets up camp in Augusta, GA a week before the storm arrives to cover the Ice Storm and can't travel the area. Shame he left early and missed the 4.2M earthquake following the "storm." I can appreciate what ya'll are going through. Be safe and stay healthy. 🍻

Latest update and RANT: Add "Gargantuan Snowstorm" to the list of headlines. Sheesh.

And now the weather bureau is reporting the storm is at least 6 hours behind schedule.... which means I could have had the pastrami all wrapped up and delivered before anything started to get western. icon_evil.gif

Here is a satellite image from mid-day. This storm is larger than I assumed, and it's going to start off as rain, then turn to show. As of a few minutes ago it had not even entered Wyoming yet.
