I'm a HUMBLE Texan this a.m.. Texas played it's guts out and it's days like this I wear my Texas stuff with pride . That freshman QB from Austin has a good arm and stepped into the worst case scenario for a freshman qb EVER . No excuses from me . We got beat . Oh yes to answer a question my son goes to UT Tyler where he runs track ( sprinter on the 4x100 relay ( last leg ) , 100m dash ( 10.62 electric timers not hand held ) and 200m where he runs 21s and the 60 ( indoor ) where he runs around 6.67 to a 6.71 . He had a full ride for football at Arkansas ( DB ) but quit to go run track ( his real like ) . He told me football at that level is no longer fun as it's a job . ( at least at ARk.)

Congrats to the TIDE !

Now I fast forwarded pittmasters to the end and Jack's Old South came in 73rd after Myron stated he has his BEST stuff being turned in . lol some king hey ? Plus Chris Gibson beat him as well . I look forward to seeing it in full tonight !

Did my heart some good ta see that loud mouthed snook eat old dryed out crow!

He ain't all it, might do well at some spots but when it came ta one a the top ranked contests he got set straight.

That was some a the best smokers in the country workin there!

There was one thing that I found really interesting about this latest Pitmasters epidose. At least I thought so...

I mean - this one detail mentioned makes the whole show worth while, IF you are like me - and you don't care about drama but just want to learn about how big comps work.

I'm talking about how the teams "position" their turn in boxes at certain tables, so they have a better shot at scoring high. I thought that made perfect sense, and would explain why a guy like Myron who clearlty knows his sh!t, could place 73rd one week - and then 5th the next.

For example, if you turn in your rib box at a table where you know a few of the other people turning theirs in are first timers on the comp circuit, or at least kinda new....or maybe a team where you know last time you faced them they finished poorly - then your ribs will be perceived as that much better when the judges get to them...as opposed to turning in your ribs at the same table as a grand champion winner, where by comparisson - maybe yours don't taste quite as awesome now.

Since everyone is basically hitting the turn in tables at the same time (only a ten min. window, with 124 teams turning in) I could see where using a strategy for which turn in table you go to - might help a TINY bit.

I caught that too. But of course that was a major point in this show. Very interesting that it's more than just cooking. Having to carefully watch who's walking the turn in boxes to the judges so you don't follow some master.

Where were the boys from Slap Yo Momma?

I wanted to give Johnny Triggs a hug too. For a gruff old fart, he's really a pretty nice guy. And kudos to Paul for swallowing his pride and asking for help.

Slap Yo Momma couldn't be there due to the fact thay have never won a Grand yet . I could be wrong but I think that is why . I didn't see Woodchick's either . I guess that is why Paul was a part of Johnny's team

Notice Myron pretty much shut his mouth after such a loss, I hope he realize he isn't a God.
Not that he can't cook, of course he can, you couldn't get to that point if you weren't able to put out some good BBQ, but to come in 73rd...I just really hope that he will be a little more humble from now on, and try lighting his fire without several bottles of lighter fluid, reminds me of that old Simpsons Halloween episode where homer empties 2-3 bottles of fluid on his grill before lighting it, maybe Myron saw the same thing and thought it was a good idea.
Myron Mixon: The Kanye West of BBQ.

I might just watch that show if Myron wasn't there and then you might be able to learn something too. I watched the first two epidisodes and I didnt care for it at all.

Lasts night show was imo the best I've seen so far. Granted I haven't watched them all as the show isn't what it was cracked up to be.

At least there were a few things a person could use in his/her smoking if they chose.

I don't do competitions, well much anyway, not my thing. I thought the idear of spritzin makin it inta comp cookin now is well geez, lots of us spritz.

I found it interestin that they don't wan't yer ribs ta pull back from the bone? Wow, thats interestin cause any ribs I ever seen I like the pull back on em. Well, thats why I ain't in comps!

I like the fact that Johnny took Paul under his wing fer that, the feller might be a bit crochety, hey I like that, but show's he's willin ta help folks out to.

I gotta say, last nights show was there best so far in my humble opinion.

I thought it was funny that Triggs and Paul came in 40th place and Myron 73rd...

The guy who forgot to sauce his pork won 3rd, wonder how he would have came in if he hadn't screwed up...

The ones that won Pork Pulling Plowboys are from Blue Springs Mo a Kansas City Suburb on the east side of town...

The above poster is correct Dude- Slap Yo Mama wasn't invited because they haven't won a state comp yet.

I too thought it was great that Johnny was willing to help Paul.

Agreed props to trigg, but I could tell out of the hat he was a decent guy.

I watched the first episode last night as it is finally on on-demand, One thing that set me back is that in ribs they dont want them fall off the bone tender they want a clear bite in them,, I spent years trying to get my ribs tender and juicy,, first time I mad them they were about what I percieve they want,,,, But so be it,, I don't and expect I wont be doing any competing soon.

I Have to agree that last nights show had some usefull information in it.. If ya watched close.

Reality TV folks!

If they showed what really happens, they wouldn't get the ratings! For example, Leanne whippin. You have all the experience and tools and thousands of dollars in cookers, trailers and meat, but you don't have a $500 generator?

In order to compete at that event you have got to win a grand champion in a qualifying comp. Each state takes all the CG's and draws one from the whole list. Luck of the draw. Also there are provisionals for past world champions ect.

They were there, just not on the show, they finished 51st overall with a 89th in chicken, and a 72nd in ribs, a 53rd in pork butt and a 21st in brisket.
