Yesterday, one of the managers had 2 15 plus pound turkeys delivered to the office for a holiday lunch.

I 'm not one to bite the fingers that serve me and I thought it was a very nice gift.

With that being said, I was majorly disappointed. I'm not going to say where he ordered the turkey from but it came from a commercial place out in Texas.

The smoke flavor was excellent but the meat was both dry and bland.  The skin was like rubber.

There was a lot of turkey left over and I didn't see anyone taking food home.

The problem with online food services, is they generally will underseason the food.  I assume they probably rubbed them with a little salt and pepper and just smoked them and shipped them out.

For me, I'm even more grateful for Jeff for starting this website and all the knowledable folks who contribute.  Over the past few years, I've learned to smoke some killer BBQ, turkey, jerky, cheese.  The problem is, I can now tell good stuff from bad stuff and the bad stuff is usually stuff you buy at stores and online.

Thanks all!

You know I feel your pain. People try to be nice and do nice things but sometimes they stuff they get isn't good. They did that at my work one day and brought in Pulled Pork. After I kindly said next time id be glad to do the pulled pork to save you some money

Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. It's mutually beneficial though:

You get to run your smoker.
You get superior quality pulled pork.
They get superior quality pulled pork.
They save money.
