Going through the steps to make sure my ground venison/cure/seasoning combo is mixed thoroughly and cured overnight could I cold smoke the jerky strips for a few hours before throwing them in the dehydrator? Reason why I ask is I only have access to a cold smoker and a dehydrator. I usually just used liquid smoke but it is never the same as a real smoked jerky. Tia

If you put the cure in the jerky marinade then there is no reason you couldnt cold smoke it first. Deer jerky is the best! Recently i have gotten into grinding deer and using the jerky gun just because it's way quicker. Still experimenting with different sessonings though. My favorite is back woods hot so far.... for ground. Still haven't found one as good as my own though.
