Went fishing with my buddy. We went check out a new area. Wind was blowing stronger than predicted....as usual. We did manage to boat 4 speckled trout...enough for about 2# of fillets. I said- "Hey, we got enough fish for crab cakes." My buddy replied- "hell yes we do!" So that is what we did....

Crab and fish cakes, Roasted red bell pepper, Basil, and Romano cheese cream sauce over angel hair pasta, with a warm strawberry, bacon spinach salad...

Excellent meal! Served with a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand... very good wine with the meal.

Also made Italian canteloupe sorbet with fresh mint for dessert...

Man that looks great, Keith!! My wife really loves crab cakes and I have made them out of fish, too, but it's been awhile. Got to get that done again soon. That salad sounds fantastic, definitely will make that...
 
Wishin I was fishin.
Soon putting the dock in today, raining a little , but i'm in the water anyway...lol

Now that is a good looking meal, and love the Italian cantaloupe sorbet with fresh mint.
And the berry salad, is on our menu lately also.

Nice! I splurge on crabcakes about twice a year...never made them from fish. Also never thought of adding strawberries to a warm bacon spinach salad...are they in-season down there already?

Thank you GS! These are 50/50 fish and crab. I poach/steep the fish in a seasoning mix and then flake it to resemble lump crab meat.

Thanks David. The sorbet is off the charts good - especially when it is hot outside! The salad is good with the strawberry twist.

I have made these cakes for a long time. Have posted the recipe here on SMF. Yes, strawberries have been in season since late February here. And delicious on that warm spinach and bacon salad!
