Thanks for the post! It reminded me it was time to make a batch. I learned to make them (along with cabbage rolls) from my wife's grandmother who was from Austria. Only did 1/2 batch of dough but still yielded about 60 pirogies...enough for the meal and froze 3 more bags for later. So simple yet so satisfying.

Cool. I have a few that I have gotten for birthdays/Christmas gifts thru the years. Here is my collection:

It is Christmas Eve!
Cheese n potato pierogies on the menu!

Here is the filling recipe:
2lb of mashed potatoes.(make them like you would normally…milk, butter..etc)

16oz shredded sharpe chedder cheese. You can adjust the amount.

Remember to boil the pierogies until they
float. Then fry in butter n onions.

Sure beats my Norsk family tradition of Lutefisk and everything else to cover up the smell. I tried but never got the taste for Lutefisk.

For almost 30 years we've gone to my father in laws and had chicken and dumplings for supper...they've gone to Arizona...so the rest of the family came to our house tonight...my wife did great!
