chip box

the chip box in the masterbuilt 30 in has a lid on it.  does anyone leave it closed or open?  I would think closing it would be contradictory?/  thoughts??

I'm a newbie, but I leave it closed. Seems to work just fine

Leaving it closed allows the chips to smolder and not catch fire... first I heard of MB putting a lid on the chip box... good idea...

Just bought a new MES Elite 40 and it doesn't have a lid but maybe that's because it has a thru wall loader

Yes. The digital MES's is a very different design than the analog models.
