Chili - chunks of chuck roast and home made sausage

Browned chuck (center)
Veg left (Onion, bell pepper, jalapeno)
Browning home made sausage (Right)

Combine chuck and softened veg

Brown the sausage then add the spices and toast them with the meat
Shelby chili packet
extra Cumin
Extra Chili Powder

Add the tomato cubes and puree

Add the sausage

Dont leave the bottom of the pan YUM YUMs .. use beef or chicken stock

Add kidney beans and tomato paste and chicken stock
Watch the texture change over the next 3 pics ... about 4hrs

Nice looking chili Zippy, I prefer chunks to ground meat in chili. I've never thought to add sausage...ummm

Great looking chili and I'll bet great tasting too.
Carol Shelby used to be my go to commercial mix but it fell to second place when I discovered Sucklebusters.
The Shelby box is more readily available though so it rises to the top if I'm in a hurry.

Jiffy mix or Martha Washington premix cornbread mix is easy. If you don't want to do from scratch.
Sharp cheddar and sour cream is my way with chili.

Another fine looking chili thread.
You musta been ready to eat that for 3 hours before it was finished.

I know its worth the wait.. Same with Gumbo, Chicken and dumplings, BBQ, Pasta Fajule Soup and many many others. Its great to have the kids ask "when dinner is ready?" over and over like a kind of food torture!
