I'm just wondering if anyone here uses chicken wire - err, poultry netting - as some kind of grate, or on a grate.

I got a 25-foot roll and I only needed 15 feet, so now I have an extra ten feet of wire and I'm wondering if it couold be of any use with a grill or smoker.

The fifteen feet I used will support tomato vines.

i think i saw somewhere someone using something like chicken wire on top of a charcoal chimney to cook a couple steaks. kind of make shift grill. you could play with that but if you have a grill I'm not sure why you would want to. Just what comes to mind on a slow Friday before a holiday!

That's what I thought, there must be a reason why no one here mentions using it. No such thing as a zinc rub.

I think I'll try using a square of it as a lump charcoal sifter. Build a simple frame from 2x6 scraps, staple some wire onto that, and have a sifter box that lets the dust and crumbles fall through. It might be handy for garden soil, too.
