Cheesesteaks (Using Ground Beef)



OK Folks, In all my Thousands of Cheesesteaks I’ve consumed, both Store-Bought or Home-Made, I have never thought to try Ground Beef, instead of the usual Chip Steak.
So when it was mentioned in a comment on my last Cheesesteak Post, by @Hamdrew, I just had to give it a try. Hamdrew made it sound good enough to eat, and he was right. I did it, it was Great, and I will be doing it again!!! Thank You Mister Hamdrew!!!

So here is what I did:
Mrs Bear was making Sloppy Joes, so when she had the Ground Beef Browning in the Pan, before she dumped all the Sloppy Joe Seasonings in, I stole a bunch of browned Ground Beef.
Then since we only had Hamburger Buns in stock, I put some Tallarico’s Cheesesteak Sauce on a couple of Burger Buns.
Then I put a pile of Browned Ground Beef on each Bun, and some Mozzarella Cheese on top.
Then I melted the Cheese, and put some Hot Peppers on top of it all.
I closed them up & had my first Supper of Ground Beef Cheesesteaks.

The next night (Webers), I put the rest of the Browned Ground Beef I stole from Mrs Bear into a bowl, and mixed it with some cut up Store Bought Plumb Tomatoes. Store bought tomatoes are better for this, because they aren’t very juicy. Fresh Home Grown Maters can make this Sammy kinda Mushy!! Then I mixed some Shredded Mozzarella in with the meat & Maters, and nuked it enough to melt the Cheese.
Then I coated 2 Burger Buns with Miracle Whip, and dropped half of that “Weber Mix” on each of the Buns, and ate them with a Fork. I was going to eat them without a Fork, but there was just too much mix to be able to close them up.

Tallarico's Steak Sandwich Sauce on all Bun Halves:

Big pile of Browned Ground Beef on each Sammy:

Shredded Mozzarella & Cheesesteak Hot Peppers on top of each & nuked until Cheese melts:

Close 'em up & time for Bear's first "Ground Beef Cheesesteak" Supper:

Next night (Weber Night), Mix Browned Ground Beef with some sliced up Store-Bought Plumb Maters, and Mix:

Add some shredded Mozzarella on top & Nuke to melt cheese. Also Miracle Whip (Mayo if you like it Bland) on each Bun Half:

Distribute Mix to each Half, and eat Bear's second Supper with a Fork. To much mix to close & pick up:

looks tasty bear, i used to make them like that , don't know why i haven't thought about them in a while. maybe i'm loosing my marbles. better make some soon now that ya jarred my memory.

That's a great way to do it for sure . I like the Weber mix myself .
My sister makes the " Tavern " loose meat sandwich . Maid right diner thing .
Pretty good .

Looks good to me Bear. Ground, sliced or chopped doesn't matter. Love the addition of the tomatoes. I'll have to try that. The Tallrico's sauce has me curious though... must be PA thing.

I'm kinda torn between the 2. When we order TOGO (Before Covid) I probably order the Weber every other time.
When I was a Teenager & "Smitty's" (Origin of the Weber) was still there, all I ever got from them was the Weber.

Those hamburger cheesesteaks sound like a real good way to use up some leftover pre-browned burger. I'll have to try that, John.

These are called chopped cheeses.

I looked that up & you're right, and they are similar.
However I'm going to call mine "Ground Beef Cheesesteaks", because the only difference is Ground Beef, instead of Chipped Steak.
Chopped Cheese is a Stupid name for a Beef Sammy with Cheese & a bunch of other things.
