charcol basket

 upset i went to a company here in utah.....i wont say its name but its monogram was w.a.s.a.t.c.h.s.t.e.e.l. and wanted to purchase a 2foot by 2 foot piece of expanded mesh to make my self a charcol basket for my fail charbroil h20 smoker.

however i was told if i wanted that size i would have to pay double for the size per foot cause it was destroying a perfectly good 8ft piece.....so i would be paying 112.00 for a 2x2 piece......that was B.S.

so i went to lowes, nothing.

went to homedepot..nothing.

anyone know where i can buy a smaller piece of mesh other then 4ft x 8 ft????

I'd get a grill wok for $8-$15 and be done with it. This is to replace the coal pan in your water smoker, right?

If you can find a steel fabrication shop they might have a remnant that will suit your needs. Ask the folks, at that steel place, who in the area purchases steel from them. You can also try a recycler. I have found metals at very good prices at recyclers.

I just got a 48" x 48" carbon steel expanded metal from Amazon for $26, delivery included.  Perfect gauge for charcoal baskets, not too heavy.  Came in a large flat carton, well packaged.
