It kinda of tight. I usually tuck the skinny part at the end under a little so the same thickness as rest and gets it away from the lid.. A rack of ribs is a bit tight also. Just verily fits, Thing about the 18 thou is so efficient on charcoal. Get 8 to 10 hours on 3/4 full ring. Not sure about the 22" Sure it takes more but Memorial weekend coming up. I buy a years supply then it so cheap.
