Hey everyone. I'm having trouble getting my MES 30 up to temp for the smoke today. I have wings on the top two racks and bacon wrapped chicken breasts on the bottom. It is very windy outside right now but It just won't come up. The temp on the MES is set to 275 but is only reading 230. The heating light keeps staying on. My Mav ET-72 says its at 208. I closed the vent on top to try to get it up. When I left the vent open the Mav said it would only hit 194.

What should I do?! I'm kind of new at this so I'm not sure.

That's weird - I'm using my MES today in Minnesota - it has been about 10 degrees the whole time, not much wind, and it has been snowing the whole time.  Mine is staying right at temp and I ran the vent full open for about 2 hours (kept the set temp around 228 to keep it at 225 internal).  Is your door clamp tight?

Yes the clamp is tight except the wires for probes coming out. I brought it to a friends house to use and I think it may be an electrical issue. Do you think that if there was a lack of power to an outlet that may be the culprit?

Re: lack of power, if you mean low voltage that is very unusual in the US - it breaks stuff - and I would guess that if you have a loose plug that is intermittently being disconnected, that your temp and time settings would be reset.  Could be that you have it so loaded up w/meat that it's taking time to catch up?  Just a guess tho...

You might want to run your probes down through your exhaust vent... Did you preheat your MES?

It could be the wind. It's 64* here right now but it's been real windy all day and I can't get my GOSM up to 300* and I never have a problem getting it hot. My wings are taking forever!
