So out camping in route to the Coast and stopped in Mt Vernon OR for the night and stopped by their local market…..they had some nice NY and Ribeyes so grabbed a Ribeye….not knowing they were choice plus 21 day aged…..

First the camp site, right on the John Day River! It’s usually greener but been a little dry so irrigation restrictions….

Starting with some thick cut shrooms and a thick slice of Vale OR fresh onion, both dressed with olive oil and Weber steak & chop.

The ribeye…..this is the trim from the shop…..notice how trim…..once I found it was dry aged…..the light went on about the trim!

Flip on the veg and sear on the Weber Q

The flip…..I got the WQ up to 450 for 10 mins so it would sizzle sizzle…..and it did!

The final flip…..man oh man I’m getting hungry!

That is some pretty fine camping fare! So how was the steak? What are you headed to the coast for?

Thanks jcam and oh man it was fantastic!! Pacific NW beef is something special!!!

The coast….. well read a book on the beach, fall asleep on the beech, and eat some fresh cooked crab over a steak looking at the beach…..lol…..no real agenda but NOT working!

Very nice looking meal. I really like the sear you got on that steak. This time of year that beach is going to be wonderful.
