posted this on another site, im one of them that are a glutton for punishment. so i have been reading mods that were done on the other brinkman side fire box so far this is what i have come up with
this is the culprit.
start: postbit_attachments_images_image end: postbit_attachments_images_image
as with the big ones you can get uneven heats so i cleaned it then asked why not use the charcoal holder pan
start: postbit_attachments_images_image end: postbit_attachments_images_image as the heat plate.
here is the hole
so i cut one side using a die grinder and slowly bending cut ends to be end leg supports
start: postbit_attachments_images_image
the other side got rib reliefs by using die grinder
drilled in a few holes spaced roughly 2 inch apart starting at very small and ending in an inch. they are also staggered
start: postbit_attachments_images_image
foiled the bottom
mounted it to the fire box side
start: postbit_attachments_images_image end: postbit_attachments_images_image
got my fuel ready
start: postbit_attachments_images_image end: postbit_attachments_images_image
and put it in the box , the smoke you see is its still trying to light no wood has been put in as of yet.
but it was nice to see the smoke going all the way to the end like it did.
start: postbit_attachments_images_image end: postbit_attachments_images_image
oh and added a new thermo
start: postbit_attachments_images_image end: postbit_attachments_images_image
as you can see its running near 250
so i waited for about hour to let it get nice and hot.
these are the readings next to fire box
start: postbit_attachments_images_image end: postbit_attachments_images_image
rear right side front right side
start: postbit_attachments_images_image end: postbit_attachments_images_image rear middle front middle
rear left front left
as you can see im running 300 at grate level
so i lowered the temp and the guage reading is now under 200
start: postbit_attachments_images_image end: postbit_attachments_images_image
now the temp reads
left front start: postbit_attachments_images_image end: postbit_attachments_images_image right front start: postbit_attachments_images_image end: postbit_attachments_images_image
sorry it started to rain after so i called off the test. moral of the story i didnt realize the dif between the location
of the door therm and the grate.
no no some of you that are seasoned pros dont flame me, i was showing you what i did with nearly no money.
total cost of this was 12buck for all the thermometers. ill have to buy two new ones to put at grate level so i can
read them with out opening it up.
