Greetings from Central Florida.

I am a virgin smoker ... never have smoked before in my life but have sampled the tasty morsels of others blood, sweat & tears!!

I am hoping to learn more about the craft of smoking and actually joined SMF to inquire what would be the best smoker to purchase for my husband for Father's Day. I know, no pressure, right? We hope to use the smoker at home, but also take along on camping trips. I don't know what else to put in this "Roll Call" ... but, here I am, new to this world of smoke, amazed at the wealth of information I've already seen. Thanks, in advance, for your guidance and assistance.

Welcome to the forum!

I would recommend a Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker (WSM).

The 18.5 size is big enough for most home use & it is still small enough to take with you camping.

Welcome from SC. It's good to have you here.

Al has you on the right path. WSM is a good backyard smoker and very portable.
