Ordered a Pit Boss 700FB from Walmart - FREE delivery for 396 $ . Tried to do all research I could on it but for the money felt this should be a good initial investment into a pellet smoker. Let you know how things work out for me. BTW lots of what I learned was from this site. So thanks to all whoever posted on the matter in previous threads I searched.

Congrats on the new Pit boss 700FB. We'll all be looking forward to your updates. Yes this forum is a great place.

I've really enjoyed my few months with my MES 30 I own, but something about smoking meat has me wanting to try more now. My buddy has a Traeger, and I'll have to say, his smokes are just simply fabulous out of it. I'm just not ready to peel out almost a grand yet for model he has. And as far as .......
" Fish of 10k casts so they say welcome aboard " ------ It sure does feel that way sometimes ! Thanks guys.

Congratulations on the new smoker, looking forward to seeing it in action.

Tell me, serious question as I’ve been looking, what steered you to this one? I thought I’d ask instead of spending hours digging around...

I need something under 500 bucks that’s simple to use, vacation house, so others sre there (all family), but can do burgers and dogs, as well as my smoke obsession.
For the price this sounds pretty good.

My offset has just been crushed by the NC salt air, my vert propane by this dumb mutt... Good girl!... smdh

Thanks!

Hi,
In short, what steered me was just researching pellet smoker / grills due to a very good friend producing very good consistent smokes on his.... The issue was the price point on his with the Traeger. My wife and I just bought a new 5 burner Gas Grill for the patio as it is rolling into this spring, so convincing her I would want to spend up to an additional grand for a pellet smoker would of been a stretch at best.... That being said, Traeger has a model , a 20" barrel that comes in around $500 with around 350 square " of cooking space. My buddy convinced me that he didn't think that was enough room, in that, his model Traeger has in the mid 500" range and wished he had gotten bigger yet. While researching I found the Pit Boss with over 700" of cooking space within price range and dug deeper. I read many , many, reviews and a couple side by side comparisons from numerous sources and just decided this was the right gamble for me to take with it. I also like the searing option on model I ordered. My disclaimer to all this is 1. I have 0 experience using a pellet smoker .2- I realize it could be a you get what you pay for scenario but just felt this was right situation for me to try at this time.... I hope that helps. Thanks!

Congrats on the smoker. I hope your experience with PB is better than mine. Load it up with some butts and ribs and let's get castin' .

What issues did you have with your PB mark ? ... and I haven't casted much last 2 seasons .. jiggin is way to go now for me !!

I bought the PB 400 and it had 100+/- temp swings out of the box. I gave it about 3-4 cooks to settle in and it just seemed to not get any better. I returned it and purchased a Camp Chef STX from Amazon. There are plenty of PB users here and hopefully yours performs as intended. Seems like the bigger models 700+ , do better.

i just bought the PitBoss 700 FB. just did my second smoke in it this past weekend. I did a lot of looking and like you i could not, or would not spend that much on a pellet smoker and all of the reviews i looked at show, for the money spent the 700FB came out as one of the best. this past weekend smoke was a 12 hour smoke brisket and baby backs. still need to dial in the smoke as it has a "P" setting for the smoke and to me not enough smoke on the preset of "P4" so my next smoke i am going to change the setting to "P3" and see how that goes.

Got her burned in tonight , gonna start with a spatched chicken tomorrow . Burn in went to specs . See how it goes tomorrow .

Your brisket looks amazing. If you don't mind me asking , What temp and how long did that take on your PB700? I'm looking to try one in next couple weeks or so. Thanks !

Smoked at 225 degrees for 10 hours and the ribs same temp but for 5 hours. The Wife/Boss likes the ribs to fall off the bones
