Black Chicken and fresh tofu soup

More like beak-to-feet!
Black chicken & fresh ho-made tofu soup.

Basic simple cure-all soup. Chicken, tofu, salt, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, garlic. Served with a fresh squeeze of lime and pepper sauce. Our friend dropped off freshly made tofu on Sunday.

I think this might be the first thing I ever seen posted I wouldn't eat , I get a chuckle thinking of putting a bowl of that in front of my wife lmao, bowl and all would go into the garbage if I know her any after 35+ years

Even raccoons don't eat the feet!
There's plenty of chicken on a chicken, eating the head and feet is just weirdness for the sake of weirdness lol

So interesting I had to look up the chicken, neat looking bird:
This black chicken, better known as the Ayam Cemani, is a rare Indonesian chicken breed that is not your average backyard chicken. This rare breed is entirely black from head to feet (and everything in between)

That sounds amazingly delicious. I have no issue eating head to toe. Chicken feet and comb are awesome. My wife, on the other hand, prefers I remove the " uncommon parts" and enjoy them out of her line of sight. Funny part, we raise Chickens and seeing them Au Natural does not bother her, as long as the funky parts don't come to the dinner table...JJ

BTW...If you ever wondered why you or your wife's Chicken Soup is never as good as Mom's or Grandma's, it likely they made soup with a Chicken and a bunch of Feet added. Lots of Gelatin and flavor in those feet!...JJ

Um...
1. these are truly cage-free birds,not coup chickens. No poop-wallowing. Secondly, you wash and clean the whole bird.

2. Most of us eat sausage from natural casings. These are poop-chutes, most literally that routinely contact feces much more in frequency and volume than does the foot of a Chicken.

3. Pigs wallow in their own cesspool. Not eating pork for this reason is blasphemy, and fighting words (unless observing religious practices and you get a pass.)

4. Crab and shrimp are filter feeders. Carp and catfish are bottom feeders. All have a high-poop diet and are all very delicious.

Guess I'm saying that lots of things are gross if you really want to think about it. But i still ask, "how does it taste?" I'm not eating anything "weird" just not common here in the land of pre-packed food. Many of the "weird" stuff is a delicacy in other parts of the world. But to each their own. The beauty of our country is the diversity. Besides, these stay cheap and delicious as long as the stay unpopular cuts.

Naturally black. Its just the breed. Local market carries them frozen.

Indeed. Though they taste like similar skinny chickens.

This! No disrespect to anyone not willing to try. You all are missing out, but I don't mind not sharing. More for me and JJ.

JJ, next time my friends mom makes chicken foot and pig ear salad, I'll get the recipe and share. Its a Thai/Hmong recipe from the old world. Sort of seasoned like Laab.

I would eat the breast or wing leg thigh ect but I just cant do feet and beaks, I see feet a lot of times in the grocery store where 15- 30 years ago you never would, coarse back then wings were at almost give away prices lol.

Mike, if you see Chix Feet, Snatch them Up! Not pretty but, throw a dozen in the Chicken Broth pot for an Old Fashioned flavor and so much rich Gelatin that the leftovers will set firm like Jell-O Jigglers. You just Strain them out at the end...JJ
