Bitternut hickory

Has anyone ever used bitternut hickory? I have never heard of it before.i have always used shag bark hickory. It grows in abundance in my area .and have been offered a lot of it all i have to do is cut it..just wondering if its any good to use .

Well if it's free get some and give it a try. If you don't care for it, you now have wood for a fire pit.
