Search the forum, but didn't find any discussions. Wondering if anyone have experience with this product and can share their thoughts. Seems to have a lot of bells and whistles, portable and has many functions. I was wondering how it would do as a smoker.

Cracks me up that they cite using it as a table as one of the 5 multi uses:

"Multi-Function - Our 5 in 1 Barrel gives much more than meets the eye! It can be used as a table to set down any item, an independent fire pit for winter, a BBQ pit with an adjustable cooking rack to manage the desired cooking temperature for meat or pizza, adjustable barrel height for child safety, and the option to hang your meat as the perfect grill smoker."

Old thread, I know... I just bought one of these because right now I can't afford the Pit Boss Champion or OKJ Bronco Pro. Got it last night, put it together and did a small burn-off/seasoning. Temp was steady at around 275-280 for the couple hours I ran it with no food on. I hope to hang ribs tonight, first time trying a barrel but I hear good things about flavor! So... I'm really ready to get off work!

I consider my first try on a barrel a fail. Baby back ribs came out pretty dry. Spritzed with apple juice/cider vinegar every 30 minutes or so after the first hour. I didn't use the water pan, the ribs would have been lying in it. Pit itself ran perfectly, held temp at 250-260 the entire cook. Royal Oak XL briquets + 2 chunks of cherry. So tonight, trying again, St. Louis cut, cut in half so they're a bit higher. Same barrel setup, I want the drippings to hit the coals. Does this sound like a plan?

Honestly it worked great but only did a few cooks on it. Cutting ribs in half worked out great. After about 5 rib cooks, the Pit Boss Championship Barrel went on sale and I got it. The BBB is pretty thin and very entry level but it worked great for me and I'd buy it again. In fact, regret giving it to my brother a little bit, very lightweight and would be great to take to a campground or something. Didn't have a truck at the time, thinking the couple pieces would fit under the tonneau now that I do have a pickup.
