Great to see you back. Food looks great as usual. I can only imagine how much work that is. Take care buddy.

Thanks Brian for the Love and the comment.

Food was a nice break, and yes it is a lot of work and mostly just me doing it . Had help raising the built walls, and a good buddy of mine helped me with the trusses. That was fun just the 2 of us.

But it is coming and it will be a lot more fun time next summer.

David

Wow... all of that looks incredible! Wish I had some builder skills like that!

Thanks Chris for the like and the comment

I am glad I can do most of the work, but I noticed they are making the material a lot heavier the last few years... :emoji_astonished::emoji_astonished:

But im getting it done, should be completely weather tight in a few weeks, then I can relax a bit and work away even in bad weather.

Been 4 months for a Smoke, So I had 2 ( 1 Single smoked ribs and beans, other 1 Smoked Chili Con Carne )

Hello every one. It has been a wild summer, finally found ( made ) time to stop and have a couple suppers this week.
Still just quick and simple meals on the Q with smoking box, but nice to stop and smoke. Other than burgers or what ever I have not smoked anything for a few months.

I , we have been working on the property every free minute I can find or steal from my paying costumers. So making a lot of 3 or 4 day weekends, then right back to work.

So first day I made some quick and hot single ribs.

Cut them up and coated with MC Honey Bacon rub, left in fridge until I got home at night.
On the Q with Hickory chips, tray of beans with half pound of chopped bacon and an onion.

I love doing the singles as they have more real estate to cover and more outside edges to chew on , lol

Yesterday I wanted something I could have for a couple days
Chili Con Carne was what I wanted . So a pound and a half of Smoked ground pork with some Lawry's seasoning and Hickory chips in the tray over the hot spot .

Fire roasted the Jalapeno and Cubanelle peppers over the burner to char, I only used 2 of the Jalapenos as the ladies were having some so I was told.

Sautéed the spanish onion and celery, added all the diced tomatoes and paste and yes 2 cans of kidney beans
and the can of Rotel. ( in the picture it shows crushed tomatoes, my mistake so I changed it to diced, thank god the pantry is full of both.

Great couple quick and easy meals, and I miss cooking and smoking. Soon I will get back to it as the winter is coming and the building will be weather tight very soon.

So here is a little update on the property.

Did all the concrete work by hand, wait that's how it started then I bought an electric mixer and did it with the machine and wheel barrow.
In all about 6 yards in 9 piers and 2 curbs to secure and level off what i wanted done, before the floor joists and above could go in or on.

Also add 60 feet of walkway to the existing walkway to the fishing platform,
Build a boat launch5 feet wide by 24 feet long into the ocean. That is where i mixed 32 bags of cement by hand into the base of the boat ramp or skidway if you want. Also built a curb around my septic tank top so it is 3 inchs above the ground and built a pressure treated cover , so no digging when I need to inspect.

here is a couple pics to show some progress.

Nice sunset on the weekend

It has been a very dry summer here, Very very little rain , good for me building but bad here for forest fires and wells.

I mostly have done everything by myself, had 1 friend help me with the rafters and stand the exterior walls when I had them ready.

But I hired a company to do the shingles after i installed the sheathing, I am getting to old to run around on the roof. But I had no choice.

Siding coming this Friday and all the decking material. Plumber coming next weekend to do part 2 of interior rough in. And I hope the electrician the week after that. Then I can insulate all.

Well folks I am back for a bit , will check out the site and see some of what I have missed ,

Thanks for reading and yes I am very long winded, just trying to fill in the gaps lol

David
All looks awesome! 🔥🔥

Great cooks David.
Catching up as this is my very busy time.
The building is coming along too. I understand that urgency to get it winter ready. I'm trying to get things wrapped up around here before the migration south.
I've only have had one good smoke this summer.
I finally had to take a sunny day off to get the fall cleanup around the house.
...
I am glad I can do most of the work, but I noticed they are making the material a lot heavier the last few years... ...
Isn't that the truth? Oh my aching shoulders!
Problem with doing it yourself is that balance between paying someone or getting paid. You are way ahead doing it yourself, but it doesn't feel it directly in the back pocket.
Next summer I have to replace all the windows and reside the house.
