Any good places in NE to get wood for smoking?
I am in NH, Warnerany new englanders still on here? southern NH here
I was born and raised in southern California, and as soon as I was getting close to retirement, I fled to the northeast. Absolutely loving New Hampshire.I'm not still in the NE--I fled as soon as I retired.
But when I still lived in NJ, I was a member of the Northeast BBQ Society. Good group. I highly recommend their Class and Cook, though I think it just wrapped up for this year. When we did it, Day 1 was learning to cook competition BBQ (ribs and chicken) with some very experienced, excellent pit masters. Day 2, you did it again, without the coaching, with turn-in times and judging standards exactly the same as in an actual competition. Now no matter how many times my wife moves our "Best Ribs" trophy off of the mantle, it always seems to find its' way back up there.
Looks like they've condensed their Class and Cook down to a single day.
A couple of years later, I got my BBQ Judge certification at a program NEBS offered.
