Nope. Ash leaflets are opposite not alternate.
True, however I believe I can see opposite leaf configuration in the second photo of the first post, perhaps in the first photo as well.

Given that I, in my research, can find no elm with a samara as long as those in the first photo I assume that the trees in the first picture are ash.

It may be that LanceP has two different trees with similar leaves or, conversly, I am absolutely wrong and am out of guesses.

If you look closely at the picture of the leaves, you can see the bud at the base of the leaf. This means that it is an individual leaf and not a compound leaf (like ashes):

Also, I don't see samara in any of the pictures. I see dead leaves. Perhaps that is what you saw? (I couldn't see any real detail until I got on my computer and looked at the original photos.)

I do have a baby tree mixed up in there that has compound leaves similar to my pecan trees. Thank you shyzabrau for pointing out the bud. Now I know one more thing to look for.

On another note, all of y'all rock! Thank you all for taking the time to help me sort this out. We moved out here last July and I've been trying to educate myself the best I can but sometimes the subtle differences can be quite confusing. For now, this one is too close to call so I'll be tossing it to road for the county. There are a few others that I'm trying to figure out but in the mean time I'll just stick to oak and pecan.
