My ignitor has failed and didn't know that MAK Grills had closed down. I'm hoping someone here may know of a source to turn to for replacement of the ignitor. Why OH why did the ignitor need to be proprietary? A meaningful thank you to anyone that can point me in the right direction.

You can take a look at this thread, maybe the Ebay seller mentioned may have that part also.

I've already asked the eBay seller this very thing. Unfortunately, they do not have any igniters. I'm still trying to find a suitable sub. The one that Lone Star Grills uses looks very similar, and I've contacted them to try and get the physical dimensions, but have gotten no response yet.

Thanks for the reply. I too sent a question to the ebay seller but have not heard back yet. I also tried the RecTeq ignitor as it looked very similar. It did light up but not enough to fire the pellets. I have a cousin that lives in Dalles Oregon and he will be trying to find out what they did with all their stock inventory of parts. Hopefully he will find a previous employee to ask. I'm not too confident that will yield anything but worth a try. If and thats a big if he comes up with a source I'll post it here. Thanks again

Definitely interested and really hope the cousin gets lucky. 🤞

I did a decent search for ya and struck out, couldnt find anything.

I would hope/bet another companies would work. Like was mentioned the recteq looks similar. I bet they would send you the specs and maybe more info to see. they are pretty amazing about helping out.

I plinked around too , and came across a guy saying that the RecTec worked .
There's new old stock out there somewhere .
I saw the comment by the guy on YouTube saying a RecTec igniter would work. I tried an aftermarket RecTec igniter and it was a flop. It was spec'd at 80W/1800°C. It'll eventually ignite, but takes forever. The MAK FlashFire is a claimed 2000°F and it literally ignites pellets in well under a minute. A unique feature on the MAK is that its hollow, so air flows both around and through it. Have not seen that on any other igniter. Going to pursue the Lone Star Grill igniter further this week, by just calling them, since email has been a bust. Their igniter looks extremely similar to the MAK. But at $95, I'm not going to just order one without more details.

OK! got into this more.
Rec Teq may not work per AI.

But this one might. check the dimensions.
I may be wrong, but I believe the stainless steel "Hot Rod" type igniters are meant to make contact with the pellets in the fire pot, in order to ignite. They're not meant to be hot air/non-contact igniters?

Not sure what you mean. I thought all pellet igniters had to contact the pellets? AI says MAC 2 is a direct contact between the igniter and the pellets to light.

Nope, AI be wrong. The MAK FlashFire ceramic is completely out of contact with the pellets. It's in a steel tube that blows super hot air into the fire pot, to ignite the pellets.

Yeah , you know what you're doing . There's a lot of guys using some type of automotive " hotrod " in the Webers , and guys are frying the harness . Same with after market ones for the Webers . They don't spec the same and they cause wiring issues , but hey , they were 2 for $20 . Lol .

I bet something comes about for the Maks here soon . Old stock will surface , or someone will make one .
You'll most likely have it figured out by then .

Bummer, sorry that one wont work.

Im sure you have thought of this, but have you called a bunch of dealers and see if any of them have parts?
