First off, THANK YOU ALL for such a wonderful wealth of information!

So I started my outdoor smoking adventures on a combo side by side gas and offset rig. Well, I quickly outgrew that in its stock form and modified the bee-Jesus out of it... and you guessed it... outgrew that..

So I started researching like a mad man for the past few months and doing some design idea'tion as time allowed.

Finally I settled on the idea of a reverse flow.. so the hunt for parts began..

I had considered buying and tweaking a new generation Pecos... those are a pretty nice starter rig I.M.O. sub 500$

But, as fate would have it I landed a burnt out, rusted and flooded original Oklahoma Joe. All 1/8" steal and for 60$.

Half of the firebox was unusable so I cut that out and did some tweaking... and after a few test burns I'm going to extend the box height by 5". It's to small and over-temping (I used feldons)

Enough chatter chatter... in to the pics. (Be kind it's not complete yet)

:p

Thanks Al!

Got some more progress done today.
Fire Box extended 5", door latches welded on, and some cheap little dial thermometers (I cook digital, but it's a nice back up) and some more fire vents
