I got a Smoke hollow 24" gasser for my birthday and have smoked some great hens and ribs using the3-2-1 method so far with this unit.Yes the thermometer in the door is just for looks(it does look cool) so I got a duel probe unit so I can watch sports and keep an eye on the temp. This unit does loose a lot of smoke around the door so my question is what do you folks use for a gasket around the door, something I can get at home depot or ace. Also what is the hottest spot in the smoker,I'm guessing the top but....not sure.

    Thanks in advance Mike.

Hi Mike,

You can run a bead of high temp RTV around the inside of the door where it makes contact with the cabinet and let it dry for a day or two, that should help with your leakage.  Or, you could purchase some gasket material from Home Depot or Lowe's and try that.

Your hot spot will depend on your smoker.  Just set your temp and move your thermo around until you find the hot spot - could change with a load of food though.
