Thanks. I have tricks to weld thin stuff.

Let me know if you want to know them.

Looks great!  How did the temp run during the smoke?

Temps were good. I was playing with it and took very little adjustment.

Went from 250 to 350 very easy, and back down.

Thanks Case.

Amazed at how easy temps are to change and then make steady again.

That's one of the best features about the mini. I have no problem leaving the mini and running a quick errand if I have to during a long cook. (yes I  only do that when I know there is no possibility of it burning down half the neighborhood)

Speaking of deserving a"BUMP"! I am inspired by your post c farmer and i am looking forward to building my own, I will be sure to do a post when I get going!

Thanks man, let me know if you have any questions.

Very easy build.

I want to here your tip. Even if it is an old thread it’s still relevant.

I don't know peachy. That's some pretty thick stuff. I'm thinking a 1/4" 7018 rod and about 260 amps..... I have a calculator somewhere for cutting truncated cones that would work great for Minion style charcoal baskets. Now I just need to find it....

Seriously though, I may have to build one of these for giggles. I have two Smokey Joes and have a Jumbo Joe in the box.

An oldie but goodie Adam. Man we were all building these left and right back in the day! B
I'm still building them for friends during this pandemic. They all love it and one them also owns a 14 WSM but prefers to take my build with him camping because of the size. PS I have made 2 from the gold SJ and I prefer the Silver because I have the bottom vent and I can add additional three holes in the bottom bowl over the legs and have magnets control airflow. I pretty much run around 190-225 during smoking and then all the way up to 350 with the vents wide open. It runs steady for up to 7-8 hours sessions. I have a 6 inch tall fire basket that I built that maximizes charcoal and pretty much just check in every few hours with a thermapen.

Got a vasconia pot black friday for 28 bucks shipped.

Fits perfect on my test dummy.

Used the charcoal grate out of my 14" cheapo Walmart grill to trace out the bottom.

Drilled a hole and a jig saw to cut it out. Be careful on this part, the pot is thin.

The bottom cut out.

First grate installed and bolts for the second grate which ist here yet.

Grate and diffuser installed.

El cheapo thermo. It is so cheap it wont even take a good picture.

The gold joe will be here on tuesday, depends on when if I finish the mini tuesday or wensday.

Stay tuned.
Is this the grill you used?
