is there a plate on the bottom also to protect from the heat of the pellet unit?

this is the heat shield installed over the electric element sorry for the delay, but yes there is a heat shield over the pellet pooper which also acts as a shelf when I use the electric element, the shield you see covers the element. I will try to post more pics in the future if anyone is interested, Thanks!

Here you can see the cord from the element exiting the back of the smoker which connects to the controller
This pic shows the cover over the flange penetration that's used for the element cord that goes out of the smoker which connects to the controller
Here you can see the element installed, which sits on the heat shield for the pellet pooper
Here is a picture of the heat shield that sits above the pellet pooper.
