is there a plate on the bottom also to protect from the heat of the pellet unit?

​this is the heat shield installed over the electric element                                                                                                                                                                                                                           sorry for the delay, but yes there is a heat shield over the pellet pooper which also acts as a shelf when I use the electric element, the shield you see covers the element. I will try to post more pics in the future if anyone is interested, Thanks!
