I seen this in a group so I had to get one. They were out of stock for while.
Hand made by the Amish. Lehmans Amish store in Ohio.

4 applications of wax.

Not sure the wood but it comes from Germany, food safe.
Me either , but sometimes when I first see things I get an impression .
My thought was Beech .
Let it sit out on a table or counter if you have room . The natural light will really bring some deep color to it .

That's awesome .

I'd like to see it .
It's made by Perrish out of Chicago, I believe it is Maple wood.
It's in great shape, I still use it whenever I am making dough or massa for tamales or tortillas. All I ever do is wipe it out with a rag, and warm water, then the next day before I put it away I give it a light coat of mineral oil let it stay on for an hour or two then buff it off.

When I found it in Noni's basement after she passed away, it smelled rancid as can be, prob because she used olive oil on it. It took weeks of rubbing it down with lemons and salt and leaving it outside in the sun to get rid of that smell. Thank God it worked without damaging it, like normal I just winged it. LOL!!!

Nice . I know you're proud to have that . I have 2 cast iron skillets that my Grandma used back in the 40's and 50's . Then my Mom used them , now I have them .
Lemons and salt is a great way to clean up stuff like that .
Thanks for the picture .

We've got a similar looking bowl in storage somewhere that came from my mom. Growing up we always used it a salad bowl during the holiday feasts. It was made by a local company Kennedy Bros. woodworking.

She used this wood bowl for salads as well, Chris.
I never do, after cleaning it up, I'm very careful with it, I won't even let my wife grab if for me out of the cupboard, she's been known to drop things. LOL!!!
