I see a lot of people use the pellet smoker in the MES 30.  My question is does the dust smoker work just as well?

YES  I use both in my mes.

Raulous, morning and welcome to the forum.....  Like c farmer said, they both work....   The AMNS using dust, doesn't like a hot smokehouse  as well as the AMNPS using pellets....     the AMNPS can use both dust and pellets...   I use the AMNPS for both hot and cold smoking....  I added the "mailbox" mod for cold smoking as the heat from the pellets was a problem for me...
