Well, I spent over 20 years working in hotels (one locally-owned and the rest were upper mid-range franchises), the last 13 as manager. I could tell you stories that would make you laugh, make you cry, or make you never want to stay in a hotel again...ever.

And it has little to do with the franchise or the location...it happens in all of them from time to time.

Example...we had to COMPLETELY gut three adjacent rooms down to the studs because the "guest" in the middle room decided there was no better place to cook meth than in one of my $150/night hotel rooms.

Then there was the $2480 money roll in the filter basket of a coffee pot that my housekeeper SWORE she washed when she cleaned the room 30 minutes before the guest called and told me where it was.

Then there was the foreigner who, with a dead-serious look on her face asking me if was safe to drink the water in the toilet (and no, she wasn't calling the bathroom itself a toilet...she was, in fact, referring to the toilet BOWL!).

Then there was a member of an international shooting team who, after checking out three days earlier, called me to ask me to get his rifle from under the mattress (which, in and of itself, exposed another housekeeper not doing her job). If memory serves, I had to go through a gun shop to get it returned to him as I wasn't able to ship it myself.

Let me stop...I'd be sitting here all night long if I don't! :emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

This is incredible. Yes, you'd be sitting here all night writing these memories, and I'd be here all night reading in amazement, lol.

People dont believe me when I say that is one of the reasons hotel got rid of the little coffee pots and went to a Keurig type thing. Idiots cooking meth in the coffee pots.

Oh, he STARTED with the 4 cup coffee maker (it was laying in the corner of the bathroom), but by the time I got antsy over the fact that he would NOT let housekeeping into the room and went in ANYWAY, he had a small lab going with beakers, spiral glass tubes (condensers?), and all!

I simply stepped out the door, flipped open my phone and called the Po-Po!

At my last job I stayed in hotels at least three nights a week.
I've found all sorts of stuff, drugs and alcohol, used condoms, food/drinks in mini-fridge, clothes in drawers all somehow missed by housekeeping.

Found bed bugs, roaches and other creepy crawlies galore.

Had one of our employees, a new hire, have a stroke and only get found because he was late meeting the trainer and getting started the next day.
He lived.

I've even seen a dead body pulled out of a room.

Seen po-po called for every manner of illegal mayhem and madness.

Know what I despise most at hotels?
The noisy people, standing outside talking or arguing loudly, partying and TVs full blast.
People with barking dogs and crying kids in their rooms when I'm trying to sleep.

I rented a hotel room on the near top floor of greektown casino (formerly) 3yrs back for my wife's birthday. I found 4 pieces of ABC (already been chewed) gum, used face masks n such. Oh, and the casino closed at 10pm. WTF

Nothing to do after 10pm in a $1000/night room. What a joke.

I've never found anything really good in a hotel room. I did leave a decent pocketknife in one last year.

That would have been my new tec 9 - and nobody would ever ever know I had it. It looked like it needed a week in a CLP bath. They are a bunch of junk and can't even handle a good hot 9mm load - but in my zombie apocalypse stash - oh yeah
