Aluminum angle

Does anybody have thoughts about using aluminum angle iron instead of steel angle for buildings the siding/slots that will hold racks in place? Ive heard some complaints about aluminum releasing harmful vapor.

I converted a fridge to a smoker for a friend...   2nd day, the fridge caught on fire....  melted the aluminum angle...  and a bunch of other stuff...   It would have been less work to rebuild had it been steel....
